AIAW Third Place

The 1981 Scots opened with an 11-0 win over Oberlin, and then captured the Great Lakes College Association tournament, winning three games by an aggregate of 31-2. After another double-digit margin of victory, the Scots won five more games, three by shutout, to move to 10-0. A loss to Ohio stopped the run, but Wooster regrouped and won their next four games to set up a match against Division I Ohio State on turf to close out the regular season. Despite the loss, Wooster was still seeded in the state tournament and after a pair of shutouts advanced to the finals where they lost to Denison in overtime. They earned an at-large bid to regionals, where they won three games by an aggregate of 9-1 to earn the right to go to the AIAW tournament. As the top seed, they got a bye in the first round and beat Salisbury State in the second round. A loss to Lynchburg in the semis relegated the Scotties to the third-place game, which they won with a 2-1 victory over SUNY-Brockport.
