NCAA First Round

The 1992 Engineers started with an opening run of five consecutive shutouts, a streak that saw WPI score 19 consecutive goals. The 6-1 win over UMass-Dartmouth started another shutout streak that lasted over six games. The Engineers put together a third long streak of allowing no goals, broken in the final regular season game in which their 4-1 win over MIT put WPI at 16-0. The Engineers blanked both opponents in the New 8 Tournament, sending them to NCAAs as the only undefeated team in the nation. They faced William Smith in the first round on the road, and the eventual champion Herons handed WPI their first loss of the season – becoming only the fourth team to score on them in 1992. The Engineers allowed only four goals all season, tying the still-standing record of 4 goals allowed in an entire season and ranking second all-time with a .21 GAA. Sue Tarallo earned All-American honors this season.
