The 1986 Bants opened with a tough 3-2 win over Bowdoin and followed that up with three straight shutouts, culminating with a 12-0 victory over Mount Holyoke. Trinity continued its win streak, notching eight more wins to close out their regular season with a perfect 12-0 record, half of which were clean sheets. As the top seed in the NIAC, Trinity hosted the conference tournament and needed double overtime to get past Wellesley. In the final against third-seeded Middlebury, another 2-1 triumph gave the Bants a perfect 14-0 record, the first one in school history. Despite ranking atop the national polls, NESCAC athletic policy did not allow the team to advance to the national tournament. Ginny Vogel earned team MVP honors while Elise Boelhouwer earned the Constance Applebee Award for outstanding contribution to the team.
