The 2009 Sea Gulls opened with four shutouts in their first six games, outscoring opponents 35-2. A 3-2 overtime loss to #1 Messiah stopped the run, but Salisbury responded by winning their next 14 games to win the NCAA title. Six of the first eight wins were by shutout, closing out the regular season at 14-1 with 10 shutouts. A pair of 2-1 victories gave the Sea Gulls the CAC title and the #2 seed in NCAAs. In nationals, Salisbury posted shutouts in three of the four games. That run included a 1-0 victory over Messiah in the final, giving the Falcons their first loss of the season and avenging Salisbury’s only blemish on the season. Tara McGovern, Lauren Correll, Beverly Beladino, and Michelle Rowe all earned All-American honors for the Sea Gulls.
