NCAA Quarterfinals

The 1997 LVC team opened up with four consecutive shutouts, not allowing a goal until a 4-2 win on the road at Mary Washington. The Dutchmen won their next four games by an aggregate of 28-2 before posting five consecutive shutouts to push their record to 14-0. A 1-0 loss at Messiah broke the run, but LVC won its next two games to end the regular season at 16-1. A win over Scranton at Messiah set up a rematch with the Falcons, and Leb Val took the title with a 4-1 win and earning the top seed in the NCAA tournament. Wins at home in the regional allowed the team to remain playing at home in the NCAA semifinals, but a loss in strokes to eventual champion William Smith ended the run. Erin Schmid and Joanna Bates earned All-American honors.
