NCAA Champions

The 1982 Bombers raced out of the gates, winning their first three games by a total of 29-4, including three shutouts. A loss to Division II Syracuse broke the streak, but IC rattled off three more wins before a loss to Springfield dropped the Bombers to 8-2 overall. Ithaca won its next two games to get to double-digit wins, and then notched three consecutive shutouts while scoring 20 goals to move to 13-2. A loss to Lock Haven ended both runs, but the Bombers won their final two games of the regular season to enter the NCAA tournament as the #3 seed. A second consecutive win over Cortland moved Ithaca to the semifinals, where they defeated Franklin & Marshall 2-0 to move into the finals where they faced Trenton State, the reigning champions and holders of a 42-game unbeaten streak. The Bombers won the title in a strokeoff, giving Ithaca their first national championship. Mary Klecha earned All-American honors.
