NCAA Champions

The 1989 Lady Eagles opened with an 0-1-1 record, but it was after tying Division I Southwest Missouri State 1-1 and losing to Division I Ohio State 4-1. After four wins that included a 3-1 win over Division I Bucknell, a 0-1 loss to Division I James Madison was followed by a tie against Longwood. Three PSAC wins were followed by a 2-1 loss at Division I Kent State. The Haven then went on a 10-2 run, winning the next six games, five by shutout, to improve to 13-3-2. A loss to Trenton State closed out the regular season, but the Lady Eagles entered the NCAA tournament as the #2 seed. The Haven scored 13 goals over their next three games to advance to the final against top seed and undefeated Trenton State. There, the Lady Eagles exacted revenge for their only Division III loss of the season with a 2-1 victory. Melissa Carmen, Tara Egolf, and Diane Yonker all earned All-American honors.
