NCAA First Round

The 1984 Red Dragons opened with a 4-1 victory over William Smith before embarking on a seven-game shutout streak that moved the team to 8-0 overall. A double-overtime loss to Lock Haven stopped the run, but a 3-1 victory over Ithaca started another seven-game streak that saw the Red Dragons outscore the opposition 19-4. In the NCAAs as the top seed in the tournament, Cortland’s run came to a sudden halt with a penalty stroke loss to Ithaca in the first round, marking the first loss against a Division III team that season. Lisa Noll and Patty Swenk earned All-American honors.
