The 2005 Polar Bears won their first three games on the road, and then came home to start the NESCAC season where they picked up two more wins. The streak continued behind All-Americans Taryn King, Kate Leonard, and Margaret Gormley, as the Polar Bears swept through the regular season unblemished, posting a 14-0 record that included six shutouts and two wins over NCAA-bound teams. A pair of wins in the NESCAC tournament sent Bowdoin into the NCAA tournament as the #1 seed and the only undefeated team in the nation. The Polar Bears notched a pair of shutouts at home in the regionals, advancing them to the semifinals at W&L. There, Bowdoin fell to Messiah 2-1, the first loss of the season for the Polar Bears.
