The 1996 Huskies opened up with a 13-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 48-6, culminating with a win over Lock Haven 2-0. A loss to D3 Montclair State broke the streak, but Bloom won the next five games by a margin of 31-3. Lock Haven returned the favor with a 2-1 win in the conference final, but the two met for a third time in the NCAA championship where the Huskies won the rubber match 1-0.
