The 1983 Huskies sat at 5-2-1 eight games into the season, but behind senior All-Americans Laurie Snyder and Deb Long, Bloomsburg won its next 11 games to win the national championship. The team forged a five-game shutout streak midway through the run that included a conference title. The Huskies then defeated Keene State in the semifinals before beating Lock Haven 1-0 after losing to them 2-0 in the regular season
