Wake Forest 2003
The 2003 Demon Deacons opened up the season with a 12-game winning streak, allowing only five goals in that stretch while posting seven shutouts. A mid-season loss to Duke (0-1) ignited a four-game run to close out the regular season, outscoring opponents 17-2 in that stretch. A pair of wins in the ACC tournament, including an overtime victory over Duke in the final, sent the Demon Deacons into NCAAs. The top seed in the tournament, Wake Forest won eight games against other tournament teams, including wins against the other three seeds. On the road as the top seed, Wake defeated BC and UConn at UConn to move to the final weekend where the Deacs defeated Michigan and then Duke, the latter for a third time that season, to win the title.
In total, the Demon Deacons allowed only twelve goals all season behind Katie Ridd, who earned first-team All-American honors. Kelly Doton was named the Honda Award winner and ACC Player of the Year, while Kelly Dostal and Lucy Shaw also earned All-American honors.
