The 1999 Huskies opened with a 3-1 victory and never looked back, stretching the run to 19-0 by the end of the regular season. The last seven games of that stretch saw UConn post five shutouts winning six of the seven games by three-goal margins or greater, outscoring opponents 37-4. Two wins in the Big East tournament meant the Huskies entered the NCAA tournament with an unblemished record at 21-0, which included six wins over NCAA-bound teams. After two wins at home, UConn moved to the semifinals where they fell to Michigan in their only loss of the season. UConn won the Big East regular season and the tournament behind All-Americans Amy Herz, Laura Klein, Danielle Vile, and Nicole Castonguay. The 23 wins set the UConn record for victories in a single season.
