The 2017 Huskies opened with a pair of shutouts and then added six more wins to move to 8-0. UConn defeated Delaware in overtime, starting a streak of four consecutive shutouts, part of a nine-game run to close the regular season in which they outscored opponents 47-4 with seven shutouts. A pair of 3-0 victories in the Big East tournament made UConn the top seed in the tournament after posting a 19-0 regular season that saw the Huskies defeat six NCAA-bound teams. A pair of wins at home moved UConn to the final weekend, where after beating UNC in a shootout defeated Maryland to become the first team in school history to finish a season undefeated, winning the NCAA title in the process. The Huskies posted 12 shutouts behind All-American Nina Klein. Fellow All-Americans Charlotte Veitner, Casey Umstead, Amanda Collins, and Karlie Heistand helped the Huskies lead the nation in margin of victory as they tied the school record for wins in a season.
