NCAA Semifinals

Penn State, who won the Big Ten in 1993, opened up with a 15-game winning streak in which they allowed only six goals; the team only allowed 12 goals all year long—their lowest total in the NCAA era—behind All-Americans Becca Main, Jen Stewart, Chris Blais and Shelley Meister, in a GAA that still ranks in the top-five all-time nationally. A loss to Iowa broke the streak, but they won five in a row that helped the Nittany Lions earned the top seed in the NCAA tournament after putting together a 19-1 regular season that included eight wins over tournament-bound teams, including the other three seeded teams. A win over Syracuse in the quarterfinals moved PSU to the semifinals.
