The 1993 Terrapins opened with three straight wins, but a pair of losses put Maryland at 3-2 after five games. The Terps responded with a win at UVa followed by a run of seven more wins, five by shutout. An overtime win over JMU slowed the run, but Maryland kept it going by defeating three-time reigning champion ODU in the next game, and added four more victories to make it 14 in a row and a 17-2 record entering the AC tournament. A win over Duke was followed by a loss to UNC as the two split the series headed into the national tournament, giving the Terps three losses entering NCAAs. A win at home followed by a shutout of Iowa moved the Terps into the final, where they faced UNC for a third time that year. Maryland ad surrendered only 12 goals all season behind Irene Horvat in the cage, who was crucial in the final as the Terps defeated UNC 2-1 in a strokeoff. Laura Harmon, Bean Scott, Sabrina Salam, Amy Schubert and Lori Vile earned All-American honors.
