NCAA Champions

The 2008 Terrapins won their first four games by an aggregate of 19-2 with two shutouts before a 2-1 loss to Syracuse ended the run. Undaunted, the Terps forged a six-game streak, outscoring opponents 28-4 before Duke beat them 3-2. Maryland closed out the regular season with another six-game run, and then won both games in the ACC tournament and earned the top seed in the NCAA tournament. With Honda Award winner Susie Rowe and US National Team member Katie O’Donnell leading the way, along with All-Americans Brianna Davies and Alicia Grater, the Terps won the final 12 games of the season that included a win over Duke, the last team to beat them, in the second round of the tournament. Maryland faced the nation’s toughest schedule but still led the country with 22 wins.
